Nuestra historia
We are here to connect the diaspora to power up Puerto Rico after Hurricane Maria’s devastating hit.
About this fund:
100% of donations to this fund will go exclusively to long-term relief for the victims of catastrophic Hurricane María in Puerto Rico.
- Maria is “the fifth strongest hurricane to hit the United States” (NASA). Puerto Rico largest natural disaster in one century.
- The entire power grid is offline.
- Communications are scarce.
- 80% of the island is without water service.
This fund has been organized and is managed by the non-profit ConPRmetidos in partnership with Foundation for Puerto Rico, a 501(c)(3) corporation, which is acting as the fiscal sponsor. All donations are 100% tax-deductible.

Where is the money going?
We are currently financing (1) needs assessment efforts,(2) long-term structural repairs to the most vulnerable communities, and (3) power as a service.
1. Needs assessment: We are committed to the social by enabling the right flow of communications across the island to help identify and prioritise needs. Our partner is ConnectRelief.com
Why?
Information of community needs and how to best and safely deploy resources are very limited. That is why we have partnered with ConnectRelief.com, a crowdsourcing platform that allows communities to share their needs in real time. We encourage your friends and family to use ConnectRelief.com to share their needs. You can also learn other ways you can help from afar there. #Technology
How?
In order to avoid the duplication of efforts, our partners at ConnectRelief.com work in coordination with the Puerto Rico National Guard. Our goal is to work together across recovery efforts to cover each other’s impact gaps because of each entity’s own resources constraints. We can do this by knowing who is doing what and where and focusing on areas that unattended. The fund allows for this to happen. #Partnerships
2. Long-term structural repairs: We are committed to improving personal lives now by rebuilding marginalized and vulnerable communities, so they can jump-start community driven efforts on behalf of further relief and productivity.
Where?
Early reports on areas that we are targeting because they are known to be marginalized and vulnerable: Puente Blanco, Juana Matos, Vietnam, Amelia/Sabana and the Municipality of Culebra. ConnectRelief.comvisited these communities today to determine community-level needs so we can use funds for community-level relief. Take a look at our timely updates for reports and images from these areas. #Impact
How?
We already know the limits of FEMA’s help. For example if a homeowner has built an added structure to the house for an extended family, that structure, if damaged is not covered by FEMA. Residents without property titles aren’t covered either. Certain electrical appliances essential to life in the Caribbean are not covered either. Our fund will help in those instances. We are committed with the long-term, sustainable recovery and rebuilding.
3. Power as service: We are committed to fostering economic development through powering up the Island at speed.
Why?
Energy solutions is a top priority because our already-damaged infrastructure is now battered. Off-the-grid solutions will be the only means of power for communities and businesses. Our commitment is to use your funds that in to have sustainable impact through this process. We will provide live update live on these efforts. #Commitment
